KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 Two Immigration Department personnel arrested yesterday on suspicion of being involved with a syndicate issuing fake temporary work permits and hacking the department’s database, were remanded for seven days beginning today to facilitate investigations.
A source within the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the remand order was issued by the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Immigration Department personnel arrested yesterday on suspicion of being involved with a syndicate issuing fake temporary work permits and hacking the department’s database, were remanded for seven days beginning today to facilitate investigations.
A source within the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the remand order was issued by the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court.
“Magistrate Syahwira Abd Halim approved the remand beginning today till April 15 for two Immigration Department Grade KP 19 officers,” according to the source.
The two are among six individuals, aged between 35 and 42, who were arrested around the capital city yesterday.
PUTRAJAYA: A senior officer from a government agency has been arrested, the eighth so far, for alleged involvement in a project cartel syndicate being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The 38-year-old suspect, a quantity surveyor with a Grade 48 position, is believed to have prepared bills of quantity for projects offered by a government agency.
Sources with knowledge of MACC s investigation into the case said the suspect allegedly leaked information on project specifications to allow the syndicate gain an advantage to secure tenders.
The suspect was arrested late Monday (April 5) at his house in Ampang. Investigations showed that the suspect was paid RM300,000 each time he provided information to syndicate leaders.

PUTRAJAYA: Two individuals, including a director of an enforcement agency, have been remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist investigations in connection with a corruption case involving approval and special exemption to several companies to carry heavy grade oil in national waters.
The enforcement agency director was remanded for four days starting Tuesday until Dec 18 while a company director was remanded for five days until Dec 19 to assist in the investigation.
Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim issued the remand order after hearing the MACC application at the Putrajaya Magistrate s Court, here, Tuesday.
