management school. we don t have that sound bite. but he basically said that, look, you know, biden is a shrewd and savvy negotiator. what do you make of what putin has been saying? and what this summit achieved, if anything at all. well, it s hard to take anything that putin says at face value because he knows how to play games. but i did read his body language in the press conference he gave after the summit, the things that he said, and he was relatively subdued. there was not a sense that putin was being triumphant as he was in 2018 when he clearly had trump s number in helsinki, which was a low point of the trump presidency. i think there s a clear sense in geneva, putin met a u.s. president that talked to him about issues that he doesn t want to talk about like human rights. you saw that in putin s press conference when he was asked important questions about jailing alexei navalny and other
that that is right. now they have to go home and do their homework, they have a strategy of containing putin as well. mr. mick fall, do you believe that it is of significance either domestically pasha or domestically in the united states that putin keeps bringing up january 6th as if the people who attacked the u.s. capital to try to stop the certifying of the election as if those people are, should be seen as political prisoners, or the rushers on their side in some way? is this just a diversion, a deliberate verbal provocation? or do you see that as potentially consequential either there or here? for me rachel, it was the worst moment of mr. putin s press conference to compare the peaceful organization that mr. even if only had. which is fighting corruption with those that use violence to storm our capital. one side is fighting peacefully

putin s press conference was going on. what s your sense of the balance they re going to strike with trying to sort of how much they respond directly to some of the outrageous things that putin said? and how much that they plan to sort of embrace that small sort of olive branch that putin offered which is to say, hey, we re starting a predictable relationship? well, you used the word predictable. that was certainly president biden s goal and what the house repeatedly talked about their goal, to bring stability and predictability to this relationship. certainly, listening to your panel there, there s certainly things that they feel president biden needs to respond to. but on the whole it is certainly what putin did, let s say on the acceptable range of predictable. it was not meant to distort the substance of the meeting here but it s the same rhetoric that
