Varanasi: UP energy minister Shrikant Sharma took cognizance of the alleged lapses that led to the electrocution of contractual lineman Rohit Bind in Varanasi and directed UP Power Corporation Limited’s chairman to fix responsibility for the incident.
Expressing his ire, Sharma tweeted on Sunday, “The death of contractual lineman Rohit in Varanasi is sad. My deepest condolences to his family members. This is gross negligence and lapse of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited. Fix the responsibility of those responsible and ensure such incidents do not recur in future.”
Expressing his displeasure, Sharma also asked the management to ascertain why the contractual staff was sent to work without providing safety kit properly.
