HB 102 goes to Gianforteâs desk
House Bill 102, legislation revising Montana gun laws, passed through both houses of the Montana legislature last week. The controversial bill would bar universities from prohibiting concealed-carry on college campuses. It will now head to Gov. Greg Gianforteâs desk for a final signature before being implemented into law.Â
âThe House [leadership] is excited that 102 has passed through the legislature so quickly. It was a priority for the House Republicans,â said Dylan Klapmeier, communications director for the House. When asked if the party foresaw any pushback from campuses or the public, Klapmeier said he did not. âItâs just going to take the public a while to understand what it does or doesnât do,â he said. âI donât think itâs going to have major impacts on college campuses. They still do have the ability to regulate firearms, they just canât outright prohibit them.â
