MT. JULIET â The initial meeting between Wilson Central and host Green Hill was a battle for the first 10 minutes Friday night.
But the Hawks closed the first half with a 19-5 run and the third quarter on a 14-2 spurt to blow out the Wildcats 61-35.
Each team was without a starter. Senior captain Zach Blair missed the game for Green Hill while the Wildcats were without scoring leader Adler Kerr.
âNot having Kerr is a huge deal for them,â Green Hill coach Troy Allen said after his Hawks improved to 2-4 for the season and 2-1 in District 9-AAA. âHeâs a special player.
Trousdale County had two nights of basketball action last week to open the 2020-21 basketball season, but came away with just one win.
The Yellow Jackets (1-2) got that win on Friday at Westmoreland, coming away with a 62-53 victory. It was Trousdaleâs first game with all of its players available after the football teamâs semifinal run and was also the Jacketsâ fourth consecutive win over the Eagles (2-2).
âItâs always great having everyone back,â said TCHS coach Ryan Sleeper. âI was very pleased with the effort against a much improved Westmoreland team. I thought we excelled at applying pressure on defense. That will be our identity this season.â
