a little more time on the ground here at hanoi. singapore was a one-day event. this will be two days, as you mentioned. they obviously have a lot more in terms of specifics they need to discuss. if singapore was about, you know, the initial first meeting, breaking the ice, and making this vague statement, this problem to work towards a peaceful relationship and denuclearization of the korean peninsula, hanoi will be a little bit of a dose of reality as puresident trump and kim jong-un sit down with their respective teams of experts to acknowledge the fact that they re so far apart on the key issue of denuclearization, what it looks like, how long it s supposed to take. this is going to be a chance for them to hammer out the details, a chance for them to do the work that secretary pompeo was not able to do with his north korean negotiating counterpart kim yong-chol. obviously president trump is banking on his good rapport with kim jong-un to get a deal that s going to be favorable to th
macron yesterday. the laughter inside the general assembly. there was laughter there. here is the thing. first of all, you are right that certain leaders are pushing back because they have all adjusted for puresident trump. everybody was looking over their shoulders, trying to bend over backwards, making sure they don t get under his skin, make sure they don t get tweeted, making sure that treaties don t get busted. but treaties do get busted, alliances have been frayed and people are banding together. as for the laughter, you know, it was campaign mode. it was typical president trump who came to a global body and sort of started, you know, beating his chest like tarzan would and saying look at how wonderful i ve done. some in the room think he s done wonderful. but others, as you said, snicker snickered. to be fair, trump did take it in
trump who has landed in brussels. he s gotten off of air force one. it appears he s about to get in a car headed to the planning stages. it s now late evening in brussels. he will be meeting with nato leaders over the course of the next two days. we ll keep on eye on that for you as things develop. brett kavanaugh is making his rounds. he can only afford to lose one republican vote if all democrats vote to oppose his confirmation. democrats seem hopeful of swinging one vote. do you think there s any chance a republican votes with you on this? i do. they said no one would vote with us on aca, and there were a number of people. there are others in a real pickle. all right. that was schumer. garrett haake is here. he s just spoken to senator lisa murkowski. a lot of eyes on her as somebody who could have a lot of concerns
pointing the finger at pyongyang for raising the tension on the peninsula and they maintain a full defensive posture and are ready to respond in a powerful way if provoked. that is a tame way of saying what puresident trump has been saying. you can remember the comment about fire and fury. and the threats ricochetting around the world from pyongyang to the president s home in bedminster, new jersey. both sides threatening various military action if the other side doesn t back down, back off. other world leaders have been wading in. emanuel macron has been raising his concerns about the tensions on the peninsula. he had a call with president trump during which president trump assured him he has diplomat measures ready. and the chinese president expressing displeasure saying
and in that meeting, she ll be pressuring putin to basically give way on ukraine as she has actually successfully done before. so she ll be quite pleased that putin is not sort of just pally with donald trump, that donald trump has criticized putin over ukraine, which has been a thing that the germans have been waiting for and wanting for quite some time. she speaks russian and has a doctorate in quantum physics. angela merkel. matt, thank you so much for that as we know that the trump/merkel meeting has wrapped. thank you so much, sir. as we stay on these pictures here of these protests in hamburg, another one of today s big headlines, puresident trump says he s considering severe options in response to north korea s missile launch, this as his defense secretary says the launch does not bring the u.s. closer to war. let me turn now to jeffery
