As one of Ring of Honor’s most tenured roster members, Kenny King has seen the promotion go through significant changes over the years. While wrestlers come and go, one of the most unpredictable shifts ROH has had to make has been running shows without a live audience.
King joined Wrestling Inc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman on the
Wrestling Inc. Daily recently to discuss this new era of ROH, noting it’s an unfamiliar feeling due to the pandemic and lack of fans.
“It’s the first time, definitely,” King said. “You know, hearing music, you hit the stage, you look out and normally where there’s a reaction, there’s nobody. There’s places where if you’ve been wrestling a long time, or you’re in a match, you know, if I hit a nice move I’m looking for a reaction, and crickets, right?”
Cook’s ROH TV Review 12.7.20
Hey kids! I know we’re a little late here, but I was out of commission last week due to an eye injury. Feeling better now, so it seems like a good time to make my return just like Mike Bennett & John Walters! Let’s hook em up!
Cook’s ROH TV Review 12.7.20
– Quinn McKay welcomes us to Ring of Honor Wrestling and runs down the card. In tonight’s main event, former Pure Champion John Walters will take on the Foundation’s Tracy Williams. Mike Bennett will take on Vincent in a Grudge Match. Last week, Brody King defeated Shane Taylor. We see the finish and get some comments from Brody. He’s beat two former champions in two matches, which speaks for itself. He’s coming for Rush’s title at Final Battle. Violence is the answer. We also saw Josh Woods defeat Jay Lethal, they show the finish of that match and some comments from Josh. He’s here for the Pure rules, and bringing back what ROH is all about.
Gary Juster, who currently serves as the Director of Operations for Ring of Honor, was a guest on the Wrestling Inc. Daily, where he discussed ROH’s scrapped plans for a live weekly television show, the company’s COVID-19 protocols, and much more. Here are some highlights:
On the scrapped plans for a live weekly TV show: “We had, fortunately from our corporate owners, been given the go-ahead, and you’ve seen now, create a new set to really upgrade our look. We had plans to do a live show, and we had a big plan for 2020. And then everything came to a screeching halt in early March when the pandemic took over. We were tentatively looking at that (a live weekly TV show) to start in July, and of course, like I said, everything got sidelined.”
