Detroit Lions draft class dominated by freak athletes

Detroit Lions draft class dominated by freak athletes Updated 11:45 AM; Facebook Share ALLEN PARK Levi Onwuzurike was one of the most athletic defensive tackles in college football, a 290-pounder with elite get-off and lateral quickness. The Detroit Lions liked him so much they considered a trade back into the first round for him, and were thrilled to land him early in the second. One pick later, they added another defensive tackle (Alim McNeill) who jumped even higher and ran nearly as fast as Onwuzurike, even though he’s also 27 pounds heavier. And if you think that’s kind of freaky, well, that’s because it is. McNeill is a former running back who packed on almost 60 pounds at N.C. State to move onto the nose. And he didn’t do it by getting fat, either.

Seahawks 2021 Draft Profile: Derrick Barnes

Seahawks 2021 Draft Profile: Derrick Barnes A look at Purdue linebacker Derrick Brooks and his potential fit with the Seahawks on day three of the 2021 NFL Draft. Author: Apr 24, 2021 The Seahawks shocked their fan base when they selected Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks with their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. A year later, the selection is looking pretty good in hindsight after Brooks impressed in increased action in the second half of last season.  Having that added depth with Brooks also makes the potential loss of K.J. Wright a bit easier to bear for Seattle. While a reunion with the 10-year veteran is still on the table, as he somehow remains unsigned five weeks into free agency, that may become less likely after the draft when signings no longer count against the compensatory pick formula.
