According to Robert Cardamone, Executive Director Punxsutawney Chamber of Commerce, this $15,000 grant program provides unrestricted help to businesses during COVID-19.
“The whole intent is to help organizations that primarily had a shut down or reduce operations during COVID period,” said Cardamone.
Cardamone said the chamber along with the Punxsutawney Regional Development Corporation are funding this initiative.
He said eligible businesses must have less than $1,000,000 annual gross revenue in 2020 and be located within the Punxsutawney School District.
At this time, they’re only able to give out five $3,000 grants to businesses.
“While $3,000 isn’t a great amount of money for businesses that may be struggling that may be enough to keep term from closing their doors permanently,” said Cardamone.

UPDATE ON PUNXSUTAWNEY SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT By John Smathers
Details have been released regarding an accident involving a school bus last week.
62-year-old Marylynn Lemmon of Rochester Mills was injured when a Punxsutawney School District bus backed into her vehicle on SR 119.
State Police in Punxsutawney say the crash occurred just before 4 pm on Jan. 5 just north of Juneau Road in North Mahoning Township of Indiana County.
53-year-old Joshua Neidermyer of Mahaffey was driving the bus when he missed a stop. Police say he backed the bus on the roadway, striking Lemmon’s vehicle.
None of the juvenile passengers on the bus were injured.
