Punjab s first STEM competition announced

LAHORE: First STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) competition has been announced by the Punjab School Education Department.
Sharing details of the competition, the provincial department said students of elementary and high schools can submit one-minute videos on following themes to win the title of Super Scientists .

ISLAMABAD: Populous cities of Punjab will host major events of the 14th South Asian Games that will be held in the near future.
The high-level meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, was held here on Monday to discuss and finalise arrangements for the regional sports extravaganza.‘The News’ has learned from well-placed sources that it was decided in principle to host all major events in the populous cities of Punjab with Lahore being the centre point.
Islamabad hosted the Games in 1989 and 2004. This time, however, the federal capital will only be one of the host cities, possibly staging two to three events. A couple of events could also be staged in Peshawar. But majority of the 27 disciplines (25 to be decided by the South Asian Olympic Committee and two by the hosts) will be staged in Lahore, Sialkot and Faisalabad.

Usman hits double century to brighten Central Punjab’s final chances

KARACHI: Usman Salahuddin hammered an unbeaten double hundred and later bowlers did a remarkable job as holders Central Punjab tightened their noose around Southern Punjab on the second day of their last round fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (first-class) here at SBP Ground on Sunday.
Usman, who was batting on 139 on Saturday, made 219 not out to enable Central Punjab to declare their first innings at 493-7 after resuming at 309-4.
Skipper Hasan Ali and Bilawal Iqbal then got three wickets each to reduce Southern Punjab to 153-9.
