The Congress party has won all the seven municipal corporations in Punjab for which the results were declared today. The party has won Abohar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Moga and Batla.
A total of 9,222 candidates were in the fray for the seven corporations and 109 municipal councils in the state that went to polls on Fenruary 14. Mohali s results will be declared only tomorrow.

The Congress party today made a clean sweep of Punjab s seven municipal corporations in the state local body polls. The party bagged almost all the bodies for which the results were declared today: Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Abohar, Pathankot, Batala, and Bathinda - the last one also being the most stunning result of the day as it was after 53 years that the city was returning to the Congress fold. While there was no clear winner in Moga, the Congress remained the single largest party. Mohali s results will be declared only tomorrow.

Amritsar: As polling for 117 local bodies including eight municipal corporations and 109 municipal councils and nagar panchayats is underway in Punjab, Bathinda records the highest voters turnout with 48.42 per cent polling till 12 pm on Sunday.
Ludhiana s Sahiwal Nagar witnessed 20 per cent voter s turnout till 10 am while the polling percentage in Ludhiana s Jagraon was 13 per cent.
The voters turnout in Ludhiana Payal was recorded at 14.6 per cent till 10 am.
The voting trend at Jalandhar Municipal Corporation was 14 per cent while it was 22.62 per cent in Nihal Singh Wala in Moga district.
