“The Centre can also announce the waiver of debts. They can take the figure from the banks. A mechanism on how it should be rolled out can be worked out later,” Pandher said.
The government has presented a proposal for diversification of crops such as pulses, cotton and maize, and assured farmers to buy them for five years under MSP with no limitations on quantity
After the fourth round of talks, General Secretary of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Sarvan Singh Pandher asserted that the farmers will continue to move forward with the 'Delhi Chalo' march on February 21.
Internet services remain suspended in specific areas of select districts in Punjab, such as Patiala, Sangrur, and Fatehgarh Sahib, until February 24, as per the directive from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The farmers were represented by Sarvan Singh Pandher, coordinator of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), and Jagjit Singh Dallewal, president of BKU Ekta (Sidhupur).
