Govt makes Quran teaching compulsory in schools
There will be one class of Quran lessons every week
RAWALPINDI:
The Punjab government has made recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran compulsory from grade one to five in government and private schools and religious seminaries across the province.
The Punjab Curriculum Textbook Board has given formal approval in its 83rd board meeting and issued a regular circular.
The recitation of Quran and the last three surahs will be taught in class one, for which 50 marks will be reserved in the annual exam. There will be one class of Quran lessons every week, the schedule said.
