The 136.80-km-long Outer Pune Ring Road is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 15,857 crore to help decongest Pune roads by diverting outbound traffic.
The Outer Ring Road project with a total circular length of 172 kms is aimed at easing congestion of the Pune city roads by providing an alternate route to long distance vehicles travelling on the national highways going through the city.
The tunnel that will be built at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore will carry water for irrigation purposes and save annually 2.5 TMC water which is lost due to leakages, theft or evaporation from the existing canal.
The scientific landfill site in Uruli Devachi and Phursungi will reach its capacity in the next six months. The PMC has decided to set up a new one in the Pune Cantonment jurisdiction on an eight-acre land and create an additional one on a five-acre land in the premises of the garbage depot in Uruli Devachi.
