Cruise ship almost sinks in Langkawi; four crew members found safe

ALOR SETAR (Feb 28): Four crew members of a cruise ship survived when the ship almost sank after hitting a rock at 0.3 nautical mile south of Pulau Lalang near Langkawi last night. Kedah and Perlis Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency director Maritime First Admiral Mohd Zawawi Abdullah said in the incident at 10.30pm, the Epic Princess cruise ship was on its way from Tanjung Tokong, Penang to Langkawi. The Langkawi Maritime Rescue Sub Centre activated a search-and-rescue operation after receiving a report from one of the ship s crew. The incident was also reported to the Royal Malaysian Navy, the Marine Police Force and the Marine Department.
