Published May 19, 2021, 11:51 AM ILOILO CITY – An Olive ridley turtle has been released back to the wild from the shores of world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province. “The best way to conserve and protect our wildlife species, especially the sea turtles is to let them live in their natural habitat. Boracay Island is indeed a turtle haven prior to the recorded nesting and hatchlings release from the past years until now,” said Francisco Milla Jr., Western Visayas regional director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-6). It was DENR-Boracay’s Protected Area Management and Biodiversity Conservation (PAMBCU) and Coastal Unit that facilitated the release of the turtle that weighed less than three kilos.
