Hurricane Fiona is approaching the Dominican Republic having triggered life-threatening floods and mudslides in Puerto Rico throughout Sunday after making landfall.
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) A firefighter lieutenant has been accused of transporting and harboring migrants who entered Puerto Rico illegally, federal authorities announced Thursday. Pedro Rafael Rodríguez Garnier, 54, allegedly met and transported multiple migrants in the island’s southwest in August 2019 and offered them food and shelter in exchange for money.
Large parts of the island's electricity supply went down after a blast and fire at a substation. That came soon after an apparent cyberattack on the territory's newly-contracted, much-criticized power company.
