HURT, Va. â Hurt Town Council held a called meeting Tuesday, May 18, primarily for the purpose of hearing updates and considering bids on Phase I of a two-phase capital improvement project for its municipal water system that has been planned for some time.Â
Peed & Bortz LLC, a firm based in Christiansburg specializing in civil engineering work, along with Altavista Director of Public Utilities Tom Fore, discussed with Council the recent project details, including bids submitted, and recommendations going forward.Â
Consulting Engineer C. Elvan Peed reported that a consent order for the project has been received from Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and that VDH has access to a number of funding sources to assist localities with the costs of such projects.Â
