PORT VILA, Vanuatu (Vanuatu Daily Post, July 1) A Hog Harbor man accused of practicing witchcraft says has had all charges against him dismissed in a Vanuatu court and plans to sue for Vt10 million (US$86,000) in compensation.
Philip Nare made headlines when he was allegedly kidnapped in Chapuis and beaten up by several Hog Harbor men for allegedly practicing black magic recently.
His story, carried in Daily Post Issue No. 1151, sparked outrage with police unable to intervene.
Nare advised the Daily Post that the court found nothing against him and that he is now filling claims and has given until July 22 for those who had offended him to pay Vt 10 million in compensation for kidnapping him; tied him to a post and inflicted serious injury to his body.
