Was B.C. contemplating “any specific border restrictions?” Horgan was asked during his weekly news conference on Wednesday.
“Not at this time,” he replied, but added: “We have staff working on various plans and protocols that we could put in place we don’t want to get caught short.”
He said the province was consulting the same officials “that we used to shore up the federal government … by putting provincial government workers at various border points across the U.S. border.”

We were sorry to hear about the loss of a young girl, perhaps a student, with her future before her, neighbour Ali Hellal said. He said he has lived in the area for more than 10 years and this was the first time he’d heard of a violent crime nearby. It’s quiet here, always, he said.
Police said the girl was inside a stopped car Sunday night with another person, and they were talking to people outside when shots were fired from a second vehicle that had pulled up. The girl and a 21-year-old man who was on the sidewalk were hit by bullets, and Montreal police confirmed Monday that the girl had died from her injuries.
MONTREAL Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante said what happened to Mamadi Camara is not acceptable, and she is calling for an independent and neutral investigation as soon as possible an idea the police chief said he would welcome. Camara, a 31-year-old PhD student and Uber driver, was charged with attacking officer Sanjay Vig a week ago, but prosecutors stayed the charges on Wednesday based on new information involving Ministry of Transport surveillance footage. Camara was released from detention. While the charges have been stayed, the investigation into the assault on the officer continues. But during a press conference Thursday, the mayor referred to Camara as an innocent man.
