For expenses ranging from gas masks and holsters, to moving a piano used by protesters and adding extra portable toilets at jails, northern Minnesota law enforcement and fire departments along the Line 3 oil pipeline route are being reimbursed by an Enbridge-funded account managed by the state.

Line 3 pipeline protesters block entrances to Enbridge offices in Bemidji
Several of the protesters locked themselves together, wearing “sleeping dragon” devices, attaching themselves to one another many lying on the ground in sleeping bags for warmth, while others were also locked to the fences outside of the entrances. BEMIDJI, Minn. Despite cold temps and freezing rain, a group of around 40 protesters blocked off the entrances at Enbridge’s Bemidji office in opposition to the oil company’s Line 3 replacement project early Friday morning, April 9.
