BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Former District 2 Brevard County commissioner Ron Pritchard has died, according to a news release.
Pritchard’s death was first announced earlier this week during a Brevard County Commissioners meeting by District 4 Commissioner Curt Smith, who remembered Pritchard as a “waterways activist.”
“I have known Ron for 20 years or more. He was a force of civic pride and activism for Brevard County in general and specifically regarding water and boating issues,” Smith said. “Because of his efforts both as a Commissioner and as a private citizen, his presence will be greatly missed.”
Deschutes County seeks residents to serve on Public Safety Coordinating Council
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) Deschutes County is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council (LPSCC).
LPSCC is comprised of community representatives, criminal and juvenile justice officials, law enforcement officers, elected city and county officials, and relevant public services professionals. The council helps facilitate planning for community corrections services.
Members are appointed to four-year terms and are not paid for their time. LPSCC usually meets at 3:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month. Due to COVID-19, this meeting is currently being held virtually.
Wheeler assigns bureaus to incoming City Council December 23 2020
Portland is the only large American city where council members oversee bureaus instead of a professional manager.
Mayor Ted Wheeler has announced the bureau and liaison assignments for the City Council that takes office on Jan. 1, 2021.
Portland is the only large American city where council members oversee bureaus instead of having them all supervised by professional city managers. Assigning bureaus is one of the few powers of the Portland mayor.
Two of the council members, Mingus Mapps and Carmen Rubio, will be new and have never overseen bureaus before.
As expected, Wheeler is keeping the Portland Police Bureau, even though Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty has asked for it.
Sullivan And Nebeker Take Their Leave Details Published: 11 December 2020
Commissioners Kathleen Sullivan and Sarah Nebeker were honored Wednesday for their service to Clatsop County on the Board of Commissioners.
The two outgoing commissioners were presented with plaques, American flags, and notes from county staff at their final scheduled board meeting.
Sullivan was elected in 2016 to represent Dist. 4, covering eastern Astoria, Knappa/Svensen, and Westport. Nebeker was elected in 2012 and reelected in 2016 to represent Dist. 2, which covers Gearhart, Clatsop Plains, and portions of Seaside.
Sullivan represented the county on the Council of Forest Trust Land Counties and Forest Trust Land Advisory Committee, as well as the Northwest Senior and Disability Services board, and was board liaison to the Recreational Lands Planning Advisory Committee. She served as board vice-chair in 2019 and chair in 2020.
