Send A popular Singapore restaurant, which serves South Indian food, was fined 10,000 dollars (USD 7,490) on Wednesday for breaching COVID-19 safety measures by hosting a birthday party for 40 people with a self-service buffet, according to a media report.

The Banana Leaf Apolo restaurant chain, which has been operating in Singapore since 1974 and is popular for its fish-head curry, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching COVID-19 regulations.
Three similar charges were taken into consideration by District Judge Ng Cheng Thiam during sentencing.
These charges are for allowing 40 people to gather at the 48 Serangoon Road restaurant on September 12 last year, and for allowing some of them to make speeches, according to a Channel News Asia report.

Briton Amy Grace Ropner and Singapore permanent resident Mark Lau San Mao were part of a group of 10 who took part in an unlawful gathering on a yacht in waters off Lazarus Island on Dec 26 last year.

SINGAPORE - A girl who had been molested by her father at least once a week finally stood up to him at the age of 15 after suffering in silence for years.
Instead of being contrite, the man punished her by locking her out of their flat for hours almost every day that month until her mother came home from work.
When the abuse escalated to rape, the girl was so afraid of being punished that she simply covered her face with a pillow and silently endured the assaults.
On Monday (Feb 22), the 44-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years jail and 24 strokes of the cane in a case described by the High Court judge as sickening .
