It bothers me in this day and age, why we don t have a larger resource of avenues for individuals. I don t know if that comes from lack of funding from the Commonwealth or if it comes from lack of funding from the federal government, Ward 7 City Councilor Anthony Maffuccio said at Thursday s meeting. We have a serious problem, and people just don t want to talk about it and they think it is just going to go away miraculously one day. Responding to Ward 1 Councilor Helen Moon s petition that requested a presentation on opioid use, Jennifer Kimball, coordinator of Berkshire Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative, informed the City Council subcommittee about the city s current issues with OUD.
PITTSFIELD â Representatives from Methuselah Bar and Lounge, owned by At-Large City Councilor Yuki Cohen, will be asked to appear at a âshow causeâ hearing before the Licensing Board next month, the boardâs chairman said Friday.
The hearing follows a referral from the City Council, which, this week, asked the Licensing Board to look into a âwritten warningâ about allegedly unheeded coronavirus safety standards that the city issued Methuselah in August.
Andy Cambi, a senior sanitarian in the Health Department, told the council that a photo emerged showing someone sitting âfacing the barâ at the establishment without food or tableware in front of them, in what he said was a violation of the stateâs coronavirus regulations at the time. Cohen denied any violations, saying the patrons were sitting at a high-top table, not the bar, and that their food had not arrived yet.
