REDDITCH’S Covid-19 infection rate remains one of the highest in the country, according to the latest data. In the week leading up to March 7, the rate in Redditch was 138.4 per 100,000 people. There were 118 new cases recorded. The town currently has the eighth highest rate in England. The rate is down from the previous week leading up to February 28, which was 163.0 per 100,000 people. There were 139 positive cases recorded. In nearby Bromsgrove, the rate of infection in the seven days up to March 7 was 49.1 per 100,000 people, with 49 cases recorded. Redditch Diamond Bus driver dies after Covid-19 outbreak

A DIAMOND Bus driver based at the depot in Redditch has died from Covid-19 following an outbreak. The 55-year-old driver, who has not been named, became ill on February 18 and died days later on the 21st. Diamond’s managing director Bob Baker says he knew the driver for 20 years and they became personal friends. The driver, who was from Birmingham, was one of seven staff members who contracted the virus since mid February. He had driven local buses in Redditch since 2015 and became a well-liked member of the Diamond Bus team. Mr Baker said: He was a great personality - it s an absolute tragedy.
