MCHENRY COUNTY, IL The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available to anyone who is at least 12 years old at all McHenry County Department of Health vaccination clinics, health officials said Wednesday.
The health department operates vaccination clinics in Crystal Lake, Harvard and McHenry. COVID-19 vaccinations at all MCDH-run clinics are free and open to everyone regardless of their county or state of residency, and walk-in vaccinations are available at all MCDH clinics.
Pfizer clinics will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 14, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at 1900 N. Richmond Road in McHenry. Other clinic dates and locations are available at https://covidvaccination.dph.illinois.gov/.

The Chicago, Illinois and Indiana health departments announced Tuesday that they will be pausing the use of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said it s allocation of Johnson and Johnson for this week was 17,000 doses. Next week, the state was set to receive an additional 5,800 Johnson and Johnson shots out of a total of 483,720 doses.
The state of Indiana also announced that it would be pausing the use of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Those with appointments for the Johnson and Johnson shots will be given either Pfizer or Moderna shots.

Two teams of Illinois National Guard members will be deployed to McHenry County a mobile unit arriving Wednesday will be used, in part, to vaccinate local manufacturing employees, and a stationary unit arriving at the end of the month will staff clinics supervised by the county health department.
In providing this support, the state requires the health department run vaccine clinics six days a week including weekends, meaning clinics will be offered Tuesday through Sunday for the duration of the National Guard s six-to-eight-week stay, Public Health Nursing Director Susan Karras said in an interview Tuesday.
McHenry County to hold virtual town hall on vaccine March 23

McHenry County officials and the McHenry County Department of Health will hold a virtual town hall meeting for residents to get their questions answered about the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine and the different paths available to receive it.
The meeting will be streamed on Facebook Live from 7 to 8 p.m. March 23. It will feature county board Chairman Mike Buehler, Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson, Director of Nursing Susan Karras and Public Health and Community Services Committee Chairwoman Lori Parrish.
Joining them will be Dr. Irfan Hafiz, infectious disease specialist and chief medical officer for Northwestern Medicine hospitals in Huntley, McHenry and Woodstock.
National Guard to help run a new McHenry County vaccination site

The Illinois National Guard is set to be deployed to McHenry County to run a new mass vaccination site with additional doses provided by the state beyond the county s normal allocation, County Board Chairman Mike Buehler said Thursday.
The McHenry County Department of Health visited a potential site for this new vaccine clinic with members of the National Guard on Thursday, Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson said in a meeting of county board members ahead of the visit.
We appreciate and welcome the governor s and [the Illinois Department of Public Health s] assistance in getting McHenry County more vaccine to our population that wants it and look forward to working with the National Guard, Buehler said in an interview Thursday afternoon.
