A South Side retiree who has dementia was bilked out of more than $400,000 by her financial adviser, who used the money to fund her film production company, according to a lawsuit filed by the Cook County public guardian’s office.

“She moves into assisted living and all of the sudden large checks start getting made payable to Canal Productions, checks running as high as $75,000,” said Cook County Public Guardian Charles Golbert.
The first case involves a 9-year-old girl who has been locked up in a psychiatric hospital for over seven months. As an infant, the girl was malnourished, her mother threw her across a room when she was four-months-old and at five-years-old her mother forced her to perform sex acts with adults.
