Public Invited to Contribute to Crowdsourced Public Art Map
The Arts Council of Indianapolis is asking for the community’s help finding public art throughout Indianapolis.
Director of Public Art Julia Moore said the Arts Council is conducting a census of all the public art in Marion County for its public art directory. The directory currently includes 800 works of art, but she says this is an opportunity for artists and communities to add pieces that the public can see and access.
“We are really looking for people to define public art on their own terms. And that’s one of the reasons we are doing this equity audit,” Muney Moore said. “We have been defining public art fairly narrowly in the past and that has resulted in some inequities.”
