Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody determined on Oct. 30 that Florida Atlantic University’s suspended presidential search violated Sunshine Law, spurring calls for the process to be restarted completely. Moody said that the Presidential Search Committee’s process of anonymously ranking candidates to a search firm that evaluates and presents said rankings back to the committee violates.
A settlement has now been reached requiring the Florida Department of Health to release COVID-19 data withheld from the public during the height of the pandemic.The Florida Center for Government Accountability and former State Representative Carols Guillermo Smith fought for release of the data in a two-year legal battle.
