Man out on bail for gun case charged in drive-by shooting that killed Syracuse man Updated Jan 13, 2021; Syracuse, N.Y. A man who was out on bail for a weapons charge took part in a drive-by shooting in December that left a 21-year-old Syracuse man dead, according to court records. Sharrief Powell, 23, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder and other charges in connection with the Dec. 21 shooting death of Ptolemy Droz. Police said Powell was driving a rental vehicle with multiple other passengers inside around 8:36 p.m. in the 200 block of Hillview Avenue. Police said Powell followed Droz, who was driving another vehicle, for several blocks before Powell and the passengers pulled up close to Droz and opened fire.
