A few weeks back, we had gamers raising concerns over PlayStation 5 stock in India. Those concerns turned global and were addressed indirectly by Sony in their quarterly financial reports. Sony mentioned that they were facing issues procuring components necessary to build the PS5 due to the ongoing pandemic. And hence, Sony is not able to keep up with the market demands. Sony also pointed out that the PS5 stocks will continue to face supply shortages extending to 2022.

PlayStation 5 pre-bookings are set to begin again in India as early as next week. Sony-authorised dealer Sony Center has listed PS5 consoles for pre-booking starting May 17. Soon after the official launch the first batch of consoles sold out in just a few minutes. The first pre-orders for PS5 kicked off back in January, few weeks ahead of the official release of the gaming console. If you are looking to get your hands on a PS5 in March, it looks like you will have to wait a bit longer. A report from IGN India suggests that the PS5 (review), scheduled to be restocked in India at the beginning of March, will now be available towards the end of the month.
According to the IGN report, “Our sources tell us that Sony had an internal meeting on February 20 to ascertain its plans for the coming quarter. One of its priorities, aside from ensuring adequate PS5 restocks, is to bring in the PS4 in large quantities, despite a price hike. However, due to ongoing supply chain issues, shipments of both consoles slated to hit India at the beginning of the month have been pushed back”.
