Florida State University News Trustees, special guests celebrate legacy of John and Jean Thrasher By: Jill Elish, Amy Farnum-Patronis | Published: June 17, 2021 | 4:51 pm | SHARE: The Florida State University Board of Trustees and special guests celebrated the legacy of President John Thrasher and FSU First Lady Jean Thrasher during a June 16 reception at the University Center Club.   BOT Chairman Ed Burr emceed the event, which included remarks by former BOT chair Allan Bense, Provost Sally McRorie, and Kyle Hill, former student body president. Leon County Commissioner Rick Minor and County Administrator Vince Long also presented a proclamation in President Thrasher’s honor.

Florida State University News FSU College of Arts and Sciences announces new interdisciplinary data science program March 1, 2021 | 10:31 am | SHARE: Florida State University’s College of Arts and Sciences has announced the launch of a new interdisciplinary graduate program that will welcome its first students in Fall 2021.  The FSU Interdisciplinary Data Science Master’s Degree Program, or IDS, leverages FSU’s strengths in computer science, mathematics, scientific computing and statistics to prepare students for contemporary careers in data science, one of the fastest growing fields in the United States.   “The FSU IDS program is innovative and timely, and it will help address the nation’s demand for data science practitioners,” said Sam Huckaba, the college’s dean. “Those involved with building the curriculum have done an outstanding job identifying essential material that will help provide graduates with analytical tools and necessary skills.”
