Myla Mae Abellana, head of the Provincial Tourism Unit (PTU), sounded her call to hundreds of students, deans, and teachers of various schools during the opening of the province's celebration of World Tourism Day. "The environment is crucial in the tourism industry as it provides us with various destinations as well as venues to promote our culture and even the food sector," she pointed out. A copy of the partial report provided to the Philippine News Agency on Friday by the Provincial Tourism Unit showed that from January to June this year, the volume of tourists from the USA reached 444; Korea, 250; Canada, 121; and the United Kingdom, 115. Lt. Junior Grade Mark Tolentino, commander of the Coast Guard Station here, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that many resorts with beach fronts and/or swimming pools do not have lifeguards.
