Durban - A cyberbully, who put up a fake Facebook profile and tormented and threatened a family for months, was living right next door to them.
His intention was to extort money from an immediate neighbour on a quiet street in a Durban suburb. The cyberbully used an assumed name and sent threatening SMSes, Facebook and WhatsApp messages to pressurise his victim, a father of two young children.
He also harassed his neighbour by arranging constant e-hailing client pick-up services from his home and had food delivered to his door, all under false pretences, during lockdown last year.

Durban - Calls to authorities for the anti-parasitic drug Ivermectin to be endorsed for the treatment of the Covid-19 virus continue to grow louder.
With Covid-19 deaths continuing to grow at an alarming rate, appeals to President Cyril Ramaphosa to review the countryâs stance on Ivermectin were raised in a petition endorsed by nearly 100 medical professionals, and included a Durban doctorâs letter.
In the letter circulated this week, the president was reminded about the evidence which confirms the drugâs potency. But the standard laid down by the South African Health Products Authority (Sahpra), the medicine regulatory authority, is that Ivermectin is not for human consumption locally.

Four people have been arrested for the murder of Cramond farmer Bill Theron (85) on December 12.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the suspects are aged between 32 and 38.
They are due to appear before the New Hanover Magistrates Court on Monday.
Theron sustained multiple injuries to his head in the attack on the farm. His elderly wife Christine found his body lying near the farm gate. The suspects fled the scene after the attack. Nothing was taken from the house.
Mbele said a case of murder was opened for investigation by Cramond SAPS. The docket was allocated to the Provincial Organised Crime who took over the investigation.
