PROVINCETOWN The 2021 boating season kicked off April 1 without any rate increases.
After weeks of urging from the Select Board and the community, the Provincetown Public Pier Corp. board of directors on March 25 deferred rate increases at MacMillan Pier for one year.
Rate increases for dockage fees, electricity and more intended to increase revenue to pay for pier maintenance had been approved by the Pier Corp. board during meetings in February and were to be implemented at the start of the season.
“When we send out invoices on the first of May, they will be last year’s rates,” pier manager Doug Boulanger said in a phone call.
