Alexandria s Catholic community immediately spoke out against the proposed proclamation. The Basilica of St. Mary, located in Alexandria, encouraged its parishioners to contact the city council about the proclamation. Supporters of Gorse Children’s Center at Mount Holyoke College plan Friday rally; college forms working group to study care options

SOUTH HADLEY – A community group advocating that Mount Holyoke College keep the Gorse Children’s Center open permanently are planning another rally in support of the effort Friday beginning at 5 p.m., where they plan to march from the children’s center to the main campus gate on Route 116. Meanwhile, the college formed a working group to study child care options that began meeting this week.
Gorse Action Group, a coalition of several hundred parents, college students, faculty and staff, formed quickly on Feb. 27, then holding their first rally when the college, at the time, said the Gorse would permanently close in June. The closure plan was quickly shelved following protests - and the matter is now being reviewed.

(CNS News) Abortion is a “crime against humanity,” according the Unborn Child Protection Act (SB6), which was signed into law by Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson on Tuesday.
“SB6 is a pro-life bill that prohibits abortion in all cases except to save the life of the mother in a medical emergency,” said the governor. “It does not include exceptions for rape and incest.” I will sign SB6 because of overwhelming legislative support and my sincere and long-held pro-life convictions,” said Hutchinson. “SB6 is in contradiction of binding precedents of the U.S. Supreme Court, but it is the intent of the legislation to set the stage for the Supreme Court overturning current case law.”
