Marion and Polk counties will stay in Oregon s high risk COVID-19 category
Marion and Polk counties will stay in Oregon’s “high-risk” category for COVID-19 restrictions next week, even if data show they should move back to “extreme risk.”
Gov. Kate Brown has changed the process for counties facing moves back to “extreme risk” to allow a two-week extension, her office said Thursday.
This will allow counties to re-focus efforts to drive back down creeping case numbers, and give local businesses additional certainty on their plans for operating, Brown said. If, at the end of the two-week extension, case rate data still puts the county at extreme risk, the county will move to that level.

Oregon reports 553 new COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths
Oregon has reported 553 new COVID-19 cases and 10 new deaths, including one in Marion County.
That brings the cumulative case count to 154,554 and the death toll to 2,204, according to the Oregon Health Authority.
Marion County reported 58 new cases. Polk County reported 12.
There were 156 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 Thursday. Of those, 38 were in intensive care and 13 were on ventilators.
As of Thursday, Oregon had administered 858,206 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. More than half a million people in the state have been vaccinated, including 263,461 who have received a first dose, and 294,725 who have received both doses.
