PATIALA: Teachers, parents, students, and drivers and conductors of school buses held a protest in Patiala on Wednesday to demand that schools be allowed open, as teachers and students had suffered a lot during the pandemic lockdown imposed last year.
Members of unions of teachers, parents and school bus drivers carried out a protest march from Dukhniwaran Sahib to deputy commissioner’s office in Patiala. They also submitted a memorandum to officials. Members of various unions held the protest jointly under the Federation of Private Schools and Associations (FPSA). “We held protests across the state and asked the state government not to impose any lockdown on private schools. We will follow all Covid-19 guidelines issued by the CBSE and Punjab government as well. Private schools have been shut in Punjab for10 days now.
