on it and they said no they wanted to get rid of it. one last thing, jake it s so interesting that the title of this law is the affordable care act and that s where it has broken down where i live in virginia. we are losing our insurance companies, our costs are going through the roof and that s something that s been left out of the discussion is people are going to lose their insurance and drop their insurance if their insurance costs keep going up by thousands of dollars a year. gentlemen thank you so much. appreciate it. the main vote is now under way. you can see it up on your screen. three minutes and 40 seconds remaining. 144 yeas. 174 nays. skron king this is a critically important vote right now even though it s going to be, if it passes drastically changed. it gets the republican leadership team a very much
to be perfect because government always works for you. republicans aren t doing that. what they re saying is we re going to take away the big government interference in the doctor/patient relationship and let the market forces work. things are going to sort out. i think that s where democrats, as usual are misreading this whole thing. we re not saying we re replacing our nanny with our nanny. we re saying, the nanny state doesn t work. we re going to return market mechanisms and let individuals make important doctor/patient relationship divisions. let me get jen s reaction, you spent eight years working for president obama, including the first term when obamacare got enacted, go ahead. first i think that s a very ant septic view of healthcare in america. anyone who voted for this bill, the fact is that 20 million more people have healthcare because of obamacare. the rate of uninsured is at the
pass the house today is not going to pass the senate in its current form. unless, of course, they change the rules of the senate. do you think that nancy pelosi has a point when she says to republicans in the house you re walking the plank for something that s not going to become law? you mean me, jake? yes, steve moore. i think look the republicans have to pass obamacare repeal. if they don t they will get wiped out in the 2018 election. so, both choices may not be very good but failure to act here after the republicans for seven years promised to their voters and conservatives around the country they were going to repeal this they have to do it. it was barack obama who said eight years ago elections have consequences and let s face it. this election that we just had in november was if nothing else a referendum by the american voters about whether they wanted to keep obamacare and they voted
because insurance is pulling out like iowa, virginia, tennessee and others, one-third of this country only has one choice. that s a monopoly. we ll provide greater choice, greater options, provide them a tax credit to select instead of government telling them what they can and cannot have. are you confident the senate will pass something so your members didn t just take a vote that will be in vein? i m confident we just made a vote to lower premiums, give people greater choice and stop this death spiral that s going forward. those aren t my words. those are the health care providers that are out across the country because of obamacare and i know people are now losing health care because of obamacare. i wasn t going sit back and do nothing. we have moved it and the senate can do their legislative, whatever things they do we ll go to conference and solve this once and for all. you heading to the white house? yes. thank you. back to you. let s bring in cnn senior
piece a few days ago about things that could to be done stieblize those exchanges and, yes, that might have been a good move. but one thing we should point out, there s a little bit of disingenuineness on the part of the speaker and white house when they say how unstable these markets are. the markets had problems. but uncertainty that exists now exists in many ways because of the attitude of the administration towards them. when the president says the law is dead, obamacare is dead, we re not going to move forward on these things and going to use the administrative levers to stop it why would an insurer not feel uncertain. if there was a commitment to fix the markets the markets could have been fixed. democrats should participate in that process. i haven t seen an inclination on the part of the white house to do that.
