New prostate cancer fitness class first in northern NZ A new specialist fitness class for men living with prostate cancer has been started in Stanmore Bay on Whangaparāoa Peninsula. The Prost-FIT exercise group is one of only seven such classes throughout New Zealand and is the only one being held anywhere north of Auckland’s North Shore. Group trainer Lis MacLeod says research shows that exercise can increase cancer survival rates by as much as 60 percent and the classes will benefit men at any stage of diagnosis or treatment. Sessions feature tailored activities including cardio, resistance and ball skills to help to improve men’s overall strength, balance and stamina.
