The spirit of the Christmas feast| Fontones
I still remember the sound the branches made as they hung in the air, wrapped tightly in plastic twine. I can still feel my hands, stuffed in mittens, reaching for the twine wrapper that held our Christmas Tree in a cigar-like shape. My dad held the tree over his shoulder as we walked up the block and towards home.
I can remember the choirs of the BQE and Prospect Expressway wail against each other s own blaring horns and rumbling tires in competition for my little, cold ears.
Loud sneezes were a given: how were we supposed to know we were allergic to the trees we brought home each year?

What’s the path for street safety in New York City beyond Mayor de Blasio’s signature Vision Zero initiative? Streetsblog asked those who would lead the city beyond COVID-19 and Vision Zero to “think big” about the question.
We asked:
Is there a safety, design or enforcement strategy that is not being deployed that you think is vital to making our roadways, sidewalks and public spaces work better for everyone? How would you promote it in office? (Hint: This is a “visionary” question, so don’t think small.)
