Property expert Louisa Fletcher and Andrew Montlake, also known as “Monty”, returned with the third instalment of their podcast The Property Show. The weekly podcast focused on property rights for cohabiting couples, new rights for renters with pets, negative interest rates and what to consider when buying a property with your other half. The show was as informative as ever, with Monty and Louisa also sharing when couples could be liable for stamp duty further on down the line.
For those who may be unsure, conveyancing is part of the legal process that takes place when you are transferring a property from one owner to another.
It includes an exchange of contracts, agreeing upon the contract details and passing the legal titles over when the process is complete.
Mr Harriot explained that if something is missed off during this process, the seller could end up with more problems down the line.
He continued: “Even sellers have to have conveyancers and if they knowingly miss information then they can also find themselves with some problems.

Mr Harriot said buyers must get a survey or risk spending the money they will save on any stamp duty exemption.
“It’s so important you don’t fall in the trap of being gazumped.”
Being gazumped is when someone makes a higher offer on a house than someone whose offer has already been accepted by the seller and therefore acquires the property.
