But while the mountains could see some minor accumulations , the valleys should be shadowed out from most if not all the the strong winds will slowly abate thursday, but the strong cold front responsible will bring snow to the valley floors and leave behind a foot or more of snow in the mountaintops. A mountain winter storm warning is in effect until noon thursday after which snow will decrease to showers. In the valley, accumulations could be limited due to the ground being so warm the past several days, but some foothill accumulations are possible above 5,000. The strong winds of wednesday will ease somewhat, but will still be brisk, in the 1525 mph range.
