GRETA publishes its third report on Romania

News News Strasbourg 3 June 2021 Augmenter la taille du texte Imprimer la page Imprimer en PDF The Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) has urged Romania to ensure that human trafficking offences lead to effective and dissuasive sanctions and that victims of trafficking have access to compensation. In a report published today evaluating access to justice and effective remedies for victims of trafficking in human beings, GRETA notes that Romania has continued to develop the legislative and policy framework relevant to action against trafficking. The Criminal Code was amended in 2020 to increase the minimum penalty for trafficking in children, and the authorities have adopted a new national strategy against human trafficking for 2018-2022.

The EU and the Council of Europe stand with Ukraine to promote and defend human rights.

Increased capacities of the staff of the Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan on combating discrimination

News News Azerbaijan 26 APRIL 2021 Augmenter la taille du texte Imprimer la page Imprimer en PDF From February to April 2021, 15 staff members of the Ombudsperson Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in a training organised by the regional Eastern Partnership project on combating discrimination. The training was practice-based, so participants learnt how to combat discrimination through handling complaints from citizens and promoting equality activities. The objectives were: To support the learning of staff members of the Ombudsoffice in Azerbaijan in the field of dealing with discrimination complaints To do practical exercises and activities on complaints handling in discrimination cases To introduce to staff members of the Ombudsoffice in Azerbaijan to good practices of complaints handling in discrimination cases from other Ombudsoffice in the region.
