The National Leader of the
All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has called on those clamouring for secession to jettison such an idea.
Speaking at the Special Ramadan Prayer Tafsir (Lecture) for Lagos State and Nigeria, held at the Lagos House, Marina on Sunday, Mr Tinubu said the country was better together than seperated.
He said the war drums some people were beating would result in the disintegration of the country like Sudan and Iraq.
According to him, Nigeria is yet to recover from the effect of the civil war, hence, cannot afford to experience another war.
”For clamouring for war, God will not allow Nigeria to experience war. If we say Nigeria should seperate, people should remember what war caused in Sudan and Iraq. Such war does not end on time. We are yet to recover from the civil war.
Hon. Setonji David, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Lagos State House of Assembly argues that the capacity of the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make a few governors and buoy other political office holders is not necessarily a bad thing
Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu held his last political office in 2007 when he completed his tenure as the second civilian governor of Lagos State. That is 24 years ago. Yet, his name is more recurring in political, social and economic conversations than those of many politicians that are in government today. The criticisms as well as adoration that greets the mention of his name in any part of the country, is only second probably to that of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria himself, President Mohammed Buhari. It is a two-edged sword.

“The month of Ramadan is sacred and holy. It is also a month of sober reflection and introspection. I therefore, call on Muslims to use this holy month to seek God’s intervention in the myriad of challenges facing our country. God did not make a mistake bringing peoples of diverse culture and religion to form a country,” the governor said.
