PETALING JAYA: While a progressive wage model could be a viable option to raise income levels in Malaysia, the government should get input from small businesses before implementing the trial run next year, says the Small and Medium Enterprises Association (Samenta).
PETALING JAYA: The introduction of the pilot Progressive Wage Model (PWM) will help gauge the weaknesses of the system and allow it to be refined, says the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).
Only Malaysian employees who earn less than RM5,000 (US$1,076) monthly will be eligible for the programme, with workers from multinational and government-linked companies exempted.
