Apr 6, 2021 Director, while inspecting the Hi Tech Poly GreenHouse spread over an area of 2000 sq Meter at village ShamaChak established under CAPEX, asked for area expansion under protected cultivation of high value vegetable crops to attract the rural youth towards Agri preneurship by making farming more remunerative. Interacting with the farmers, K. K. Sharma stressed for promotion of Integrated/Organic/market oriented Farming utilizing latest technological interventions. He urged the farmers to organize themselves into Farmer Interest Groups (FIG) and Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs) for enhancing their income through value addition, branding and better marketing linkages of their produce. The Director passed on spot instructions to CAO Jammu to hold regular meetings with PRI members to formulate development oriented plans for welfare of farming community.

J&K farmers provided Rs 1132 cr under PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme: LG

‘Betterment of farmers priority’ Excelsior Correspondent Jammu, Dec 25: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi relasing Rs 18,000 cr for farmers, a programme was held simultaneously at Kisan Kendra, Jammu where Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha addressed the farmers. Sinha observed that the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir have been provided with financial assistance worth around Rs 1132 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. He outlined that the welfare of the farmers and betterment of their livelihood is the prime focus of the Union as well as UT Government. The UT Government has taken comprehensive measures for the development of the agriculture and allied sectors in J&K. 100% coverage under PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi has been ensured in J&K so that no beneficiary is left behind in availing the benefits of the scheme, he added.

of minnesota farmers last week who said definitively in the view of farmers there, the u.s. and president trump are losing the trade war, they feel left out in the cold on this. well, you re really of course split along party lines. a lot of farmers here are republican, so when you talk to them they say we want the president to be tougher on china, on trade. we think he s going in the right direction but we can t hold out forever. you know, at a certain point they re losing money. they need to see some real results and it depends. you go and talk to some more progressive farmers who are looking at the plans laid out by people like senator elizabeth warren. so you really do get a lot of variation, but you do hear universally from farmers we want a tougher stance on china, we want better trade deals but we need to see some results.
