that big office. this is an agency that s been embattled, highly partisan. created as watchdog agency to keep an eye on big banks, pay day lenders, and former head of it was put there in part because republicans wouldn t agree to confirm elizabeth warren to it. you have nick mulvaney who said many times he doesn t think this agency should exist. putting him there is an attempt to reorient the agency, change its direction, and outgoing director appointment was attempt to protect what he saw as the prerogatives of the agency, keep it going in a more progressive direction, and the direction richard cordray would have intended. this is about the politics of regulation and politics of taking on the banks. i think that s right. eventually the white house will win here, eventually the president will get his pick to run the agency when he does

so what will they lead to? joining me now is jeff weaver, former campaign manager for bernie sanders and president of our revolution, a political organization that evolved out of that campaign. good evening. i put the question to you as someone who is a part of a campaign that punched above its weight, that had a large grassroots effort, that arguably impacted the democratic party while not winning the nomination. where does this go? well, i think you ve seen, as you pointed out an unprecedented groundswell of people across this country who are not only offended by what trump is doing in the white house, but also want to see us move forward in a way that recognizes the dignity of every person in this country that creates broad-based opportunity for people all across this country. that wants to make sure that women s rights are protected harkes the lgbt community is protected, that immigrant communities are protected, african american communities are protected. people are coming toget
