You just stole another. All right. Tonight is called the portola sweep, right . [cheering and applauding] i know there are several people here tonight who nominated the portola as the come back neighborhood of the award of the year. Neighborhood of the year award. Im sure there were several nominaters. So, im very humble to be able to present my nomination and the reasons why i think we deserve tonights award. Im a relative newcomer to the neighborhood, only 13 years, and there are many more folks who have been there for their whole lifetime. Several years ago as even chrisy talked about, i first saw the portola, because portola family connections who this year is celebrating their 20th anniversary serving the community. applause had applied for a grant and as chrisy mentioned, there was nowhere to check. You couldnt get a grant if your neighborhood didnt include it. Think of it still very similar. If you look at a aaa map today or a city neighborhood map, you aint gonna see the portol
Review that this body be created and thats what lead to f. I dont know of a kind of holistic review that has been done since then. One thing to note g both is a critical piece but not the only one. Its the place with citizens provide indepth detail of the bond programs but on top of that we have commissions responsible for bonds, so the Health Commission has regular meetings about the progress on the hospital bonds and others on other bonds and of course the board and the mayors involvement so there are multiple lefls of oversight and we are one of them. I appreciate that. I ask that question because i do think its something that that kind of body should be asking itself, and i would encourage maybe more discussion around that issue because clearly youre talking about the body becoming even more proactive now. Youre increasing the number of meetings. Youre increasing the numbers things youre doing and maybe youre doing more than anyone else is doing out there, but i think having those
Joy to meet people who live right across the street and never knew what wonderful neighbors i had until we started the Neighborhood Watch group. So, i would strongly advise everyone to start a Neighborhood Watch group. Its great. And thanks to patricia, shes done an outstanding job and im so happy she took over as block captain for me.
