fundraising operation, he died in 1976 but that statue still stands in arkansas today. but he is about to have another moment in the public eye. because what he really wanted to be remembered for, even more than that statue, was a nationwide movement that he tried to build. a movement that he named. and that he led. and that he promoted tirelessly. and that he wanted to outlive him. the motive behind the term christian nationalist is easy to define and simple to interpret. we believe that the destiny of america in relationship to its governing authority must be kept in the hands of our own people. we must never be governed by anyone. we must keep control of our own money and our own blood. in other words, we must remain true to the declaration of independence. that is nationalism. we believe that the spiritual symbol of our statesmanship is the cross, which indeed is the symbol of christianity. we believe that the inspiring dynamic out of which america grew is christianity.
his speech, on january 7th says to those who engaged in acts of violence and destruction, quote, i want to be very clear, you do not represent me, you do not represent our movement, and if you broke the law, quote, you belong in jail. he cuts that out. he won t say that the people who broke the law on january 6th attacking the capitol belong in jail and he won t even say that they don t represent him and they don t represent his movement and you can see that all crossed out, with this big sharpie and you can see his big all cap sharpie handwriting where he swapped in his own language there. he did say, instead of you belong in jay, he said you will pay in jail, he said you will pay. you will pay. you will pay. by which presumably he meant you will pay for tickets into my next round of for profit trump rallies where i will praise you. january 6th has become the democrat party s excuse to justify an unprecedented assault
all the hype that this democratic candidate was going to win and it would be a repudiation of president trump. and that just didn t happen. i think another thing, ainsley, is that we know when you put trump in headline, you get a lot of attention. you have these news editors saying go find some people that are going to stir up some controversy and that will get us. ainsley: we saw all the protesters on both sides are really angry. the people that didn t vote for donald trump, didn t vote for president trump, what does he need to do to appeal to them. because we are all americans and want to get along and work together and for the people and being one country and solidified. what does he need to do to get them on board. i agree we are one country and we re looking for solutions. for example, when you look at healthcare, obamacare it, a disaster. i think that s something both sides recognize and both sides recognize it needs reform and needs to work. president trump, when he is able to
ages. that no matter what the outcome is tonight. whether we take it all or whether we fight on, we have defied the odds we have shattered expectations. [cheers and applause] ainsley: he ran not on policy but on the fact that he won it was referendum on president trump. he wants to run against president trump s policies. and that s what he kept saying. so all these hollywood elites heard about this and donated money. 97% of the money that he raised came from outside of that area. it is a republican district. ed: all about democracy and fighting for this district. and super interesting because he is saying it s a victory for the ages. which ages? steve: he is only 30. ainsley: he can t even vote for himself because he lives outside of the district that he is running for. steve: how crazy is that he could not vote for himself because he didn t live in the district. ed: the media has been framing
the headlines say it all. claiming that so-called disillusioned trump voters are now regretting electing the president. it turns out the polls tell a completely different story. joining us to explain is amy holmes a pollster at rasmussen reports. hey, amy, great to sigh. thank you for having me. ainsley: who do we believe the media or the polls. you should believe only what your eyes tell you and only the new york times could send reporters out in the field and end up in the bubble. as we find at rasmussen reports that pullin polling dats showing president trump s approval ratings going up. 41% of likely voters think the country is going in the right direction up 5 points from last week and 10 points since the election. ainsley: after syria, after afghanistan. right. ainsley: can you continue to see the graph go up. approval ratings 50%. how does that compare at this point? ronald reagan had 50%. it s a little bits of apples and orangers comparison when
